What Is the Ronald McDonald Family Room?
The Ronald McDonald Family Room offers a resting place for mind and body to support families accompanying children who are hospitalized.
It is a warm and welcoming space set up inside a hospital to make them feel at home.
Families accompanying hospitalized children are under great strain emotionally, physically, and financially. The Ronald McDonald Family Room is a facility where they can take a break and have refreshments -- for a moment away from the medical space while still being close to their children.
The Family Room includes an eating & drinking area for snacks, a mini-kitchen, massage chairs for napping, as well as a lactation / powder room. They can spend a relaxing time alone or unwind through conversation with other families or Family Room staff members. Taking into consideration the burden on families, the Family Room can be used free of charge.
"Offering support to those supporting their family members..." Creating an environment for the accompanying families to give full attention to their children in as good a condition as possible will help to bring a smile and peace of mind to those children, while also empowering both children and their families to face the medical treatment with a positive mindset.
"Keeping Families Close" -- helping families stay together through hard times and good times. That is our wish.

Since then, the Family Room has expanded globally and become our second largest key program after Ronald McDonald House, with approximately 260 locations opened worldwide as of October 2023.
Here in Japan, the first one opened in December 2023, as the Ronald McDonald Family Room Sakakibara Memorial Hospital.
